"French Pots" Like many of my best ideas, I got these from a potter, in this case, a French potter. Unfortunately, I didn't get his or her name, so I can't give credit, but the idea of using natural plant stems for the tops came from him or her. As in my copies of Asian pottery, I use different figured woods to simulate the glazes that potters use. Finding the appropriate stems is harder than it might seem. Most just don't work. Some of these are from blueberry bushes and some are, I think, from some very small scrub oaks.
Gum,
a very unstable wood, there are little cracks all around this pot.
Red cedar
- it is hard to see in the picture, but the cedar is sand blasted to emphasize the grain

This is not a "French Pot," it's just a bowl I like
